National Director, Pint of Science Australia
Jirana Boontanjai is one of the two national directors of Pint of Science in Australia, being involved with the festival for the last three years. She brings to the leadership team a unique drive and practicality that ensures the festival delivers its core strategic objectives while remaining a fun experience for all involved. Among other things, it has been her guidance that has primarily driven the development of suite of resources and supports for the festival volunteers that makes it easier for individuals and teams to better manage the workload, resulting in reductions of volunteer burn-out.
Practically, she has over four years of experience as a presenter and workshop facilitator and currently works professionally in the secondary-school STEM engagement sector. She also has experience as a researcher, musical performer, teacher and event manager, and has long held a personal interest in public events and festivals.
Jirana has a specific passion through her role in the executive of Pint of Science to provide opportunities for others to develop their own communications skills, as well as mentoring the individuals who dedicate their time to the festival to facilitate their growth and learning with tangible experience. With the support of her team, she is currently working to improve the Australian festival into a more sustainable and valuable experience for audience, presenters and volunteers alike.
