Professor, Centre for Science Communication, University of Otago

Professor Nancy Longnecker has been a member of ASC since 1996  Nancy developed and delivered the inaugural science communication programs at UWA. Before becoming a science communication academic, she was an agricultural research scientist and a professional science communicator with a CRC. In 2014, Nancy moved from Perth to New Zealand to join University of Otago’s Centre for Science Communication in Dunedin.

Nancy was President of WA’s ASC branch from 2004- 2007 and represented WA on the national ASC executive committee, serving as national Vice President with President Jenni Metcalfe in 2005. Nancy was on the program committee for the ASC conference in Brisbane, 2014. With Claire Harris and Kali Madden, Nancy edited ASC’s first published conference proceedings.
