Senior Lecturer, Massey University
As a practitioner in Experience design, Tristam Sparks is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Design within the College of Creative Arts at Massey University. His research interests include the effect of technology on sociocultural systems and science communication. To date this has focussed on democratised crisis management in the event of a natural disaster.
Prior to his recent practice as a consultant designer, Tristam led User Experience at the International Secretariat of Amnesty International in London. During his tenure, online brand standards and behaviours new to the organisation at the time were established. Human centred design, cross channel communication practices were also introduced alongside interdisciplinary consultation on content strategy. This activity took place with respect for how the nuance necessary in the presentation of human rights might be effected in contemporary media contexts.
While living in Europe, Tristam was able to exercise his passion for science subjects attending invitation only events at NASA, the ESA and CNES. He is a keen photographer and has professionally practiced in motion graphics and videography.
