The Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney

Overlooking the city’s glistening harbour, the Royal Botanic Garden is the green heart of Sydney. One of the first areas settled and farmed in the new colony in 1788, this 30 hectare botanic garden was established in 1816 and celebrates its bicentenary in 2016 as Australia’s oldest scientific organisation.

The Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan

The Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan is 416 hectares in size and displays plants from across Australia in both formal and informal settings, within a typically Australian landscape. The Garden is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Free guided tours leave at 11 am and 2 pm most days from the Visitor Centre.

The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah

Situated on the summit of a basalt capped peak 1000 m above sea level, this majestic Garden is home to a world class collection of plants from the cooler southern hemisphere. Remnant rainforest of the Blue Mountains contrasts with cultivated displays – reflecting the aim of the Garden to inspire a love of plants and the importance of conserving natural habitat.
