Launch of the Science Art Exhibition: The Art of Science Communication

The Art of Science Communication exhibition will run for the entire ASC2018 conference.
This exhibition explores works that range across visual communication, design, and art, teasing at the boundaries of these fields and considering how they play into the field of science communication.
The exhibition will invite inspection, reflection, and comparison of works that are aesthetically interesting and intellectually challenging.

This session will be an informal chat with the STEMpunk hosts interviewing expert practitioners at the ASC conference about what STEM is, and who does it. The hosts will encourage audience participation and questions to make the podcast as interesting and conversational as possible.

Tour of the Sydney Opera House

Tour one of Sydney’s (and Australia’s) most iconic landmarks – the Sydney Opera House. On this private tour for ASC delegates, you will be taken on a journey discovering how it was created, designed and built.

Tour of the Sydney Nanoscience Hub

The Sydney Nanoscience Hub is the flagship building of the University of Sydney Nano Institute.
ASC members are invited for a 45-minute tour of the building and its facilities, meeting some of the researchers (depending on availability) working on diverse topics.
The tour will be hosted by Marcus Strom and will feature Professor David Reilly from the Microsoft Quantum Lab.

Well, forget all that negative self talk. The premise of this workshop is in the title: “Anyone can visually communicate science”. And it goes about equipping you to do so through a series of brief lectures, discussions and practical exercises.
